(IREC) International Rocket Engineering Competition
A competition team managed by the Rocket Club at San Jose State University. It competes in the titular IREC Competition held each year by the Experimental Sounding Rocket Association (ESRA). The team builds a rocket from scratch that climbs to a certain altitude and carries a payload.

Participation in the SJSU IREC team is separate from membership with Rocket Club; speak to a Rocket Club officer for more information.
Recent Highlights
The 2025 IREC Team flew their rocket up to a maximum altitude of 10,024 ft, and deployed a scientific payload at an altitude of 1,000 ft. The rocket was also equipped with a 360° camera and sensors.
